Side Chick Culture
Real Women’s Experiences

Side Chick Culture: Real Women’s Experiences explores what it really means to be “the other woman” and what it means to be the woman who discovers she was the side chick all along. With a unique blend of memoir-style writing, testimonials, and commentaries, Lennox Bailee gathers the voices of everyday women and places them at the center of a conversation that society usually has about them, rather than with them.
Anchored by Bailee’s own story, first as a woman tired of being lied to and cheated on, but later realizing she herself was “the side chick playing a main chick role,” the book follows a cast of women whose lives intersect with infidelity in complicated ways. Although some of these women are fully aware of their position, others find out by accident, through voicemails, DMs, child support papers, or late-night calls from “the Bitch.” Each chapter in the book does a great job of spotlighting the story of one of these women.
Have you ever loved another woman’s man?
Side Chick Culture does not romanticize infidelity, nor does it flatten these women into villains or victims. Instead, it argues that being a side chick is not a woman’s whole identity, but one role she may play in a particular season of her life. It’s a book about self-discovery, accountability, healing, and the courage to choose yourself, loudly, imperfectly, and unapologetically.
